The mission of the OAI Community Action Team is to support the OAI staff, board of directors, and MACA to meet the mission of those organizations and to provide assistance for activities which benefit OAI community and their residents; to keep membership updated on national, state and local activities, legislation and changes that affect program funding and employment in a direct or indirect manner; to provide training, special projects, and other activities that will benefit members.

Membership is open to OAI employees and individuals who are interested in furthering the mission of OAI-CAT. As a volunteer organization, OAI does not fund this program. All individuals, organizations, or corporations must be approved by the Executive committee prior to becoming voting members. There are no annual dues.

In 2010, Thanksgiving baskets were given to 107 families making up a total of 361 individuals. The Christmas project provided 25 bags of food and a family was adopted. Presents and an Angel Food Christmas Box were purchased by CAT.

The emergency fund program is designed to assist individuals with monetary needs which are not covered by any other program. A maximum of $100 for each application is available. The budget for this project is $600 for 2011.

As a voluntary organization, all funds are raised locally. If you would like to donate to CAT, we would appreciate your support. Donations should be made out to OAI-CAT and mailed to 710 E. Main, West Plains, MO 65775. Support from the six counties would be appreciated.

If you would like to host a fundraiser for CAT in your community, we will be happy to assist you with the project. Funds may be designated for your specific county and/or Holiday projects or emergency funds.
